In a constantly evolving world, where technology redefines every aspect of our lives, agentic artificial intelligence, designed to act as independent agents, is positioned as one of the main disruptive forces of the year 2025.
Faced with this panorama, Edesio Ureña Albacete, general director of CEF Santo Domingo, and Patricia Portela, rector of the institution, share their perspectives on the financial future, the social impact and the importance of education in this transformative context.
Ureña highlights that agentic artificial intelligence, characterized by its ability to make complex decisions autonomously, will revolutionize key sectors such as finance, international trade, logistics and health.
«The Dominican Republic and the entire world are facing unprecedented change. By 2025, agentic AI disruption will no longer be a futuristic concept, but a reality that will transform business productivity, drive operational efficiency while challenging traditional economic models. In this context, the countries that invest in technology and training will be the ones that lead the new global economy,” said Ureña Albacete.
At the local level, it foresees sustained growth in sectors such as tourism, which will take advantage of technological innovations to personalize experiences and optimize resources. However, it also emphasizes the need to prepare the workforce for the challenges that automation will bring, such as the reconfiguration of traditional jobs.
In such a dynamic scenario, Portela highlights the crucial role that education plays. «Agentic artificial intelligence will not only reconfigure the labor market, but also the bases of our social interaction. In 2025, it will be more evident than ever that continuing education and acquiring new skills are essential to staying competitive and relevant. Training is not only an economic pillar, but also a vehicle for equity and inclusion in this new technological era,” explained Portela.
He also highlights that changes in the labor market will demand professionals with hybrid capabilities: “The professional of the future will not only need technical knowledge, but also skills such as critical thinking, creativity and adaptability to thrive in this highly automated environment.” In this context, they highlighted that CEF Santo Domingo focuses on the training of leaders prepared to face the challenges of agentic artificial intelligence.
