Precautionary measures ordered for a former official of the Judicial Branch who facilitated the escape of José Cossio from Punta Coco

The Court of the First Judicial Circuit of Panama, decreed this weekend the personal precautionary measures of periodic report on Monday and Friday of each week, the prohibition of leaving the country and the province of Panama; as well as the restriction of the passport of a 39-year-old citizen, a former official of the Judicial Branch, accused of the alleged commission of the crimes of facilitating the evasion of sentenced persons and the falsification of public documents, on the afternoon of this Saturday, October 22.

He indicated that the decision was made after considering that there is no danger of flight, he does not represent a danger to the community because he is no longer an official of the Judicial Branch, he does not represent a social risk, because he does not belong to criminal organizations and does not maintain current convictions.

The Public Ministry appealed the decision of the precautionary measure, which was scheduled for October 31 at 8:30 am

It was learned that this case is related to a complaint filed on September 3, 2021, by the former president of the Supreme Court of Justice, Luis Ramón Fábrega Sánchez and the presiding magistrate of the Second Criminal Chamber, María Eugenia López Arias.
