Pre-salt has record production in September

In September this year, oil and natural gas production in the pre-salt region was 3.681 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d), the highest volume ever recorded. The participation of pre-salt in national production was also a record, reaching 81.2% of the total. In the month, total oil and gas production in the country, including all environments, was 4.539 million boe/d.

According to the ANP, natural gas production was 169.92 million cubic meters per day (m³/day), also setting a record. This is an increase of 6.4% compared to August 2024 and 7.6% compared to September 2023.

National oil production totaled 3.470 million barrels per day (bbl/d), an increase of 3.9% compared to the previous month and a reduction of 5.5% compared to the same month in 2023.

Pre-salt

The volume of 3.681 million boe/d produced in the pre-salt represented an increase of 6.3% compared to the previous month and 2.4% compared to September 2023. Of this total, there were 2.864 million bbl/d of oil and 129.90 million m³/d of natural gas. Production was carried out through 153 wells.

Use of natural gas

In September, natural gas utilization was 97.9%. 56.87 million m³/d were made available to the market and the burning was 3.63 million m³/d. There was an increase of 0.6% in burning, compared to the previous month, and 8.3% compared to the same month last year, according to the ANP.

Origin of production

During the month, offshore fields produced 97.6% of oil and 83.6% of natural gas. The fields operated by Petrobras, alone or in consortium with other companies, were responsible for 90.54% of the total produced. Production originated from 6,428 wells, 495 of which were offshore and 5,933 onshore.

Fields and facilities

In September, the Tupi Field, in the Santos Basin pre-salt, was the largest producer, recording 850.91 thousand bbl/d of oil and 43.59 million m³/d of natural gas. The installation with the highest production was the FPSO Guanabara, in the shared Mero deposit, with 182,028 bbl/d of oil and 11.95 million m³/d of gas.
