Pre-candidate Martín Torrijos and UP professors talk about the educational reality of the country

A meeting between the former president and presidential candidate Martín Torrijos and professors and researchers from the University of Panama took place this Friday, February 14, where the issue of the reality of the country was addressed, especially the educational system.

This conversation is given as part of the national tour carried out by the candidate for the presidency to hear from the different sectors the problems they face.

During the meeting, the professors explained the role of higher education teachers in the change that must take place in the country’s educational system, while pondering that former President Torrijos “has taken the academy into account because in the end we are part of the process education and also innovation and research.”

They exchanged ideas on how to improve education, strengthen scientific research through master’s and doctoral programs, as well as student internships at research institutes.

The professors and researchers proposed a new social pact to produce an educational transformation throughout the country.

“This country will not change if there is no change in education, and this will not be possible if our university education system does not change,” said one of the professors who participated in the discussion.
