PRD militants have until January 2025 to decide to create another party

Following the loss of registration, the defunct Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) has already concluded the liquidation process of 150 employees who worked at that national institute, but will only begin this same process in the 19 state committees where it also failed to obtain 3 percent of the vote. Only in 13 entities will it be able to keep its real estate assets, provided that they request registration as a local party.

It has a period of 10 business days to present its documentation at the local electoral institutes, in order to register as a state political force and when they give the ruling, the intervenor in charge of the entire liquidation process has to transfer the ownership of the properties that correspond to each state PRD.

This political force remains alive as a local party in Baja California Sur, Sonora, CDMX, Michoacán, Morelos, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, San Luis Potosí, Guerrero, Tabasco, Zacatecas and Oaxaca, where it will retain its assets.

On the other hand, in the 19 states where the company lost its registration, as well as in the national one, the liquidator has to collect all the real estate in order to liquidate the worker base.

At the national level, we are trying to ensure that the properties located in Mexico City remain for the local party, it is something that we have to litigate with the intervenor himself.explained Ángel Ávila, former representative of the Sun Aztec Party before the National Electoral Institute (INE), who had to leave the office granted to him by the institute last week.

Regarding whether it was a mistake to have gone into coalition with the PRI and PAN, he commented that they were coming from a process in 2021, when the citizens had sent them the signal that the more electoral districts they were in alliance with, the more they could win and thus take away the qualified majority from Morena.

We understood that we should go to more districts together to take away Morena’s qualified majority, but today’s results showed us something else. We must learn from the good and the bad.

Regarding the future of the militants of the extinct PRD, he pointed out that they have until January 31, 2025 to inform the INE if they plan to form a new political group, which is not yet being discussed, since it is first necessary to do a deep reflection and then make decisions.

The important thing is to be clear about what the political line of that party will be and what sector we want to speak to. One of the mistakes of the PRD is that we did not know how to reach the niche of votes that we had and today we would have to consider what sector of the population we want to represent and be consistent with that.

It is not easy, he added, one must mature and it would be very irresponsible to say that one is seeking to form a new political force without thinking it through, as well as reflecting on the successes and the mistakes.

We must take things calmly, assume the mandate of the voters, we must not rush into this, I am of the idea that it can be done as long as we have bases because we live in a different time, there is a change of regime and we cannot continue repeating old patterns.concluded the former PRD representative before the INE.
