María Nela Prada, Minister of the Presidency, called for dialogue for this Saturday 22 – the first day of the indefinite strike due to the census in 2023 – at 8:00, to reach agreements or solutions that, consequently, lift the strike.
However, he pointed out: “you cannot sit down at a dialogue table setting the abrogation of a supreme decree as a condition. What kind of dialogue would we be talking about?”, he questioned and accused the Santa Cruz governor of sabotaging the dialogue.
Prada thus responded to the letter sent by the Rector of the Uagrm, Vicente Cuéllar, and indicated that they have always been in favor of a “frank and constructive dialogue that gives certainty”.
Again there was talk of a dialogue without conditions or obstacles. The minister made reference to her offer in the afternoon, that the preliminary results of the census of April 2024, the same year, will be applied so that the regions have more economic resources.
It remains to be seen in which month there would be preliminary results, since if it passed October, the pertinent modifications could not be made to the budgets or Annual Operating Plans of the 2025 management.
The minister accepted that the dialogue be broadcast on the university channelbecause, he said: “we have nothing to hide” and that they have never had a problem with it being “facing the people”.
However, in the previous meetings on the census, held in La Paz and Santa Cruz, the attendees They denounced that they were not allowed to have their cell phones with them. The presence of the media was also not allowed, except for the reading of the conclusions.
“You, Mr. Camacho, are leading Santa Cruz not only to catastrophe, because you live off the conflict, feeds on confrontation; seeks to generate political popularity at the expense of the people of Santa Cruz”, Prada addressed the governor of Santa Cruz, whom he described as “intransigent, who seeks to sabotage the dialogue”.
Prada also referred to the economic losses generated by unemployment. According to him, they lose $1.5 million an hour, or $36 million a day.
