Within the framework of the closing of ranks that legislators from the Morena, Green and Labor parties made to support her management, President Claudia Sheinbaum called for unity and summoned them to participate in the rally that she will lead on December 6 in the Zócalo to celebrate the seven years of the triumph of her movement with Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
At the meeting at the National Palace, legislators from both chambers came to present the progress of the legislative agenda. The president placed special emphasis on seeking the greatest possible consensus in relation to the water reform, suggesting that it is one of the priorities.
“Right now he emphasized to us that the issue is the water reform, that we can open the debate and that it is not a closed reform, but that the opinions be heard in the forums that we have had in the Chamber,” declared deputy Sergio Gutiérrez Luna.
At the meeting, Sheinbaum emphasized some fundamental issues: he expressed his confidence in the ratification of the Mexico, United States and Canada trade agreement; The consultation on revocation of the mandate to which it will be submitted was discussed, which will be in 2027, and it was recognized that the reform to approve the 40 hours of work requires further processing.
Buses carrying legislators arrived at the National Palace at 5 in the afternoon. At the end of the meeting, the coordinator of the Morenoist deputies, Ricardo Monreal, stated that “it was a good meeting, an assessment was made of the constitutional and legal reforms that have been carried out in 14 months. There are 22 matters, 44 modified constitutional articles, 15 new laws and 72 modified regulatory ones,” he said.
At the meeting, the relevance that judicial reform had for the country was highlighted, highlighting that this generated resistance within that instance, as well as the modifications to grant full rights to indigenous and Afro-Mexican ethnic groups and the reinforcement of the sovereign character of our nation, social policy, health aspects and salaries.
Sheinbaum explained the importance of not abandoning one’s presence in the territory, because “power is humility.” The legislators interrupted her several times with the chorus: “President!”
Gutiérrez Luna stated that they expressed to her “strongly that we are with her (…) the President’s message was very clear, to move forward together, to explain to the people what is happening, so that they know that what has happened in recent days is, well, the aftertaste of people who resist the transformations that we have been carrying out, particularly in the Judiciary.”
