Residents of different areas of Caracas reported an electrical blackout, as well as a heavy downpour that congested some places in the Venezuelan capital.
A strong “low light” occurred this Friday, April 29 at 5:45 in the afternoon, as reported by users through social networks. The failure that occurred in Caracas, Miranda and in five other states during the heavy rains that have been recorded in the country for several days.
The power outage lasting several seconds was enough to turn off appliances and other electrically powered devices.
According to reports from social networks, the electricity drop occurred in sectors of Aragua, Carabobo, Capital District, Miranda, Lara, Vargas and Zulia. In Caracas and areas of Miranda, the fault was reported in Altagracia, La Candelaria, Montalbán, Chacao, Sebucán, Catia, El Marqués, Urbanización Horizonte, El Peñón, El Hatillo, La Boyera, Guarenas and Guatire.
In some areas of Caracas and Miranda they were left without electricity service after the “low light”, among them, the Catia and Caricuao parishes.

The administration of Nicolás Maduro has been applying the Cargo Management Plan (PAC) for several months, to avoid -as indicated by officials- to avoid greater congestion in the so-called “peak hours”. However, the population has denounced that there is no scheduled program for the suspension of the service and that it lasts up to 12 hours.

At the time of publishing this information, no statements had been made by officials from Corpoelec or the Ministry of Electric Power. While the electrical service failures occur, the Bolívar state is carrying out the First National Congress of Public Services, where goals were set to recover the different services such as electricity, telephony, gas and water.
“We empower the communities of control, supervision and maintenance of basic services and we seek concrete solutions for their optimization,” said the Sector Vice President for Public Works and Services, G/J Néstor Reverol from Bolívar.
