The best specimen without distinction of sex is from Cerro Largo
The 66th Edition of the Standard Bird Exhibition and the 2nd Edition of Bantam Birds organized by SACELA were held with complete success at the Convents of the Agricultural Society of Cerro Largo.
Added to one of the highest figures in history in terms of registrations are the achievements of cabañeros from the department who won most of the main awards.
“Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th we had the Admission Jury working. That’s where all the birds entered. From Monday the 6th at 8 in the morning the Qualification Jury began to work and had before them an excellent level that made it difficult for them to define. That’s how the whole week went by” the Secretary of SACELA told Radio Rio Branco during the live broadcast he made from the Conventos location.
“The Departmental Champion is a bird from SACELA, specifically from our vice president Javier Rebollo. It is a Playmouth Rock Blanco. The Reserved Great Departmental Champion is also from Melo, from SACELA, from the partner Ricardo Pedrozo. The best female in the exhibition is from a partner from outside, Ernesto Cañedo from Paysandú. The Reserved female from the exhibition is also from here from Melo, from SACELA, from the partner Robert Alvarez detailed Veronica Mello.
THE SOCIETY OF POULTRY FARMERS HAS GROWN
“We had a big problem because we all wanted to send the birds to represent our institution outside, but we did not have many ways to do it. The schedules of the bus lines do not coincide, therefore, going to Salto was completely out of our control.” he stated. “We first have to think about the animals. Sometimes they left Melo on a Friday to arrive at their destination on Sunday or Monday with all that that implies for the poor caged animals, without water, without food, obviously without care. In the case of the white birds this was even more traumatic” he commented.
“SACELA, thanks to the contribution of some colleagues in particular who made their donations and the little that was missing was provided by the Society itself, to have a trailer” reported.
“It has already been used, including for this exhibition we did here in Melo. Several animals were loaded into this trailer. It is a very important achievement” projection.
Several improvements were also made in the exhibition hall, such as painting and bathrooms. “The ceiling was installed in the canteen and some sheets were replaced. There were repairs to the carpentry and the front gate” he detailed.
The Cerro Largo Poultry Farmers Society maintains constant work throughout the year. “We don’t just get together for La Expo. By statute we have a scheduled monthly meeting that always takes place on the last Sunday of the month” Verónica Mello reported.
“Beyond that, we are always in the shed on Sundays to work on improvements, but also because we take it as a time to meet. In the run-up to the Exhibition we came practically every day. We were very anxious, awaiting the day to arrive.” said the Secretary of the Cerro Largo Poultry Farmers Society.
