In the city of Sucre, Chuquisaca, two simultaneous marches were held in support of the convocation of the Potosinista Civic Committee. Both calls had two different routes and demanded an end to the “persecution” against the citizens of the country who question the Government.

The first concentration was promoted by the Central Obrera Departamental (COD), which protested against the Central Obrera Boliviana and its representative, Juan Carlos Huarachi, whom they pointed to as being related to the Movimiento Al Socialismo (MAS).

As established in the convocation of Comcipo, the demonstration was also against “political persecution” against civic leaders. “We reject and repudiate the persecutions that are being carried out at the national level of our civic entities,” said the leader Efraín Villalpando, reported Correo del Sur.

For their part, Potosí residents, led by their representative Luz Subieta, also questioned the processes against the leaders of that region, including Marco Antonio Pumari.

“To tell the Government, do not provoke the Bolivian people, do not provoke the people of Potosí, because in Potosí in 2019 the cry of freedom has been given,” he stressed.

The leader asked that the whole country stand up “to defend democracy, freedom and justice.”

Comcipo called for the mobilization after a police contingent deployed last week and broke into its offices.

In the midst of this operation, the agents apprehended former civic leader Marco Pumari and are still looking for the president of Comcipo, Juan Carlos Manuel, who declared himself in hiding.

Pumari is being held in the Uncía prison accused of the burning of the Departmental Electoral Tribunal of Potosí during the post-electoral crisis of 2019 derived from the allegations of fraud in the presidential elections.
