Potential tropical cyclone Five is moving rapidly; Indomet is monitoring

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported on Monday that it is monitoring the path of potential tropical cyclone Five, which is located east of the Lesser Antilles, approximately 1,040 kilometers east/southeast of Antigua.

He said the weather system is moving rapidly, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and is moving west at about 41 kph.

Regarding the weather conditions for today, Indomet stated that rain and thunderstorms will occur from early hours along the Atlantic coast and the Caribbean Sea.

In this regard, he said that it is expected that these precipitations “will continue with varying intensity in the morning hours, affecting Samaná, María Trinidad Sánchez, El GSD, San Cristóbal, Azua, Barahona, Pedernales among others.”

Consequently, he predicted that from midday and throughout the afternoon there will be increasing clouds with rains that will affect the southeast, north, Northern Mountain Range, points in the Cibao Valley, Central Mountain Range, as well as the San Juan de la Maguana Valley, the Neiba and Bahoruco Mountains and the border area where they will be more intense.
