The president of the Rural Corporation of the dad, Freddy García, said today that the price of potatoes will rise in the coming months due to lower production, reaching a triple cost. In addition, the highest peak will be reached in October.
“Regarding the price of potatoes, it will go up. We estimate that the peak will be in October, the cost will double or triple, that will depend on the varieties,” He said in an interview with Canal N.
In that sense, he mentioned that the yellow potato will reach an average of S/ 8 per kilo. Other varieties such as native potatoes, huamantanga potatoes, huayro potatoes and white potatoes will also rise. The latter, which is the most commercial, would reach an average of S/ 3.50 to S/ 4.00.

García points out that the low production is due to the Government’s inability to take adequate measures against agriculture.
Later, he indicated that the Fertiabono would only reach 30% and that for the next year there could be a food crisis.
“The Fertiabono will reach 30% nationally. In the Junín region, less than 30% (of producers) are registered and that is unfortunate. Therefore, this 2022-2023 agricultural campaign will stop sowing an average of 20% of producers and all this will be reflected the following year with a food chaos “he maintains.
“My person is going to stop planting 50%, due to the world crisis, fertilizers and the political crisis that we are experiencing in the country. The most worrying thing is that the government’s laziness is not reaching the producers,” add.
Finally, Freddy García indicates that livestock will also be affected by the shortage of fertilizers. Urea is also used in green fodder, so the price of milk would also be increasing.
“It is not only the potato, but several products of the basic family basket are affected.”
