Postponing charges against indigenous people linked to police attacks: there was no translator

This Wednesday, October 19, the indigenous community held a sit-in in front of the Avianca buildingformerly the headquarters of the Victims Unit, to request the compliance with the agreements established with the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá and the National Government.

The protest got out of control and several videos circulated on social networks where it can be seen thatand the indigenous community began to break the glass of the Avianca buildingAt that moment Esmad entered and everyone began to disperse.

From there, began attacks on police officers and managers of coexistence of the Mayor’s Office in different points of the center of Bogotá, this agitation caused the rejection of the citizens and the political sectors.

For the above, the National Police published the poster of the most wanted to find the whereabouts of those who attacked the uniformed men with sticks, fists and kicks.

Thus, today the capture of Carlos Andrés Murillo Queragama and Guillermo Naticay, who were going to be charged, but the diligence was not carried out because there was no translator to ensure the proper judicial procedure.

In this way, the ninth guarantee control judge in Bogotá pointed out that, “according to the testimony of Ascanio Manuel Tapia, a servant of the Ombudsman, while he was accompanying him, he identified how in a large group, Guillermo Naticay was violating and assaulting members of the National Police that they were trying to retake control of the Avianca building.”

In addition, the Prosecutor’s Office reported that those captured had head injuries that had nothing to do with police aggressionbut they went with blunt objects that others were throwing in the middle of the excesses.

As a result of these events, there was a balance of 23 injured, of which eleven were police officers, seven officials from the mayor’s office and five citizens who were in the area.
