Postponed coercion accused of kidnapping Colombians

The Office of Permanent Attention of the judicial district of San Francisco de Macorís set for Monday, the 26th of this month, the hearing to request a measure of coercion against three Dominicans accused of kidnapping several Colombians in the Pimentel municipality, Duarte province.

The court scheduled the hearing for a date in order to give the defendants time to recover from the gunshot wounds inflicted on them by police officers. National Police in the operation to rescue foreigners.

The Public ministryrepresented by prosecutor Smaily Rodríguez, is requesting 18 months of preventive detention against Edward Ureña Gómez, Esmerlin Rojas and Quirio Miguel Frías Saldívar.

The accusing body also asks the room to declare the case complex.

The three are accused of acts of torture and barbarism by the kidnapping of four Colombians.

During the arrest of the defendants, Eddy Luis Ureña Ortega, 26 years old, and Carlos Humberto Núñez Santos were killed by uniformed officers.

The authorities determined, through investigations, that the defendants tortured the victims to get them to give them $50,000 for their release.

So far the authorities have not released the identities of foreigners.
