The auction of motorcycles, vans, vans and trucks that were part of the Correios fleet and reached their useful life, had the most expressive result in recent years in 2021. According to a balance sheet released by Correios, last year alone, the company raised more than R$ 52 million with the sale of 6,714 vehicles. The number is well above the 4,004 auctioned between 2017 and 2020.
With the resources, the state-owned company has been replacing such vehicles with new vehicles. The corporate renewal policy provides for the replacement of 100% of the company’s entire fleet by 2023. The action began in 2020 and, last year alone, the Correios received 1,505 vans, totaling R$93 million in investments. The average useful life of the fleet at the Post Office is three years for motorcycles, up to seven years for vans and ten years for trucks.
“A large part of this result is due to Operation Clean Patio, organized by the company to reduce the amount of disused movable assets stored in warehouses, thus releasing these assets. The project promoted an improvement in the alienation process, making it faster, by simplifying procedures and activities”, says a note released by the state company.
According to Correios, the highlight is the use of an electronic platform for the sale of these vehicles, in a process that allows “greater coverage of participants, since the proposals no longer depend on physical presence at the event”.
