Positive for cocaine 1,613 packages seized in Peravia

The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) reported that they tested positive for cocaine the 1,613 packages occupied together with the Dominican Republic Navy and members of the Public Ministry, in two operations deployed in the Peravia province last Tuesday.

According to the analysis of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), the packages had a total weight of 1,400 kilograms of cocaine.

For this fact seven people are detained: five Dominicans and two Colombians, for both cases, while the investigations are deepened.

Operative

In a press release, the agency explained that the first operation in a wooded area of ​​the Quijada Quieta community in the municipality of Matanzas, in the aforementioned province, after receiving reports that several individuals intended to mobilize an undetermined amount of drugs.

In that place, you need the DNCDanti-narcotics agents were fired upon by several unknown assailants, causing an exchange of fire, no injuries were reported.

In the midst of the confrontation, the authorities arrested four men and seized 21 sacks containing the 833 packages of the substance, while the tactical reaction units activated the search for other individuals, who managed to escape during the scuffle.

In the joint operation, a jeep, two motorcycles, a nine-millimeter caliber pistol, a communication radio, an antenna, a GPS, a compass, four cell phones, among other evidence, were seized.

In a second operation authorities seized another 780 packages presumably cocainein a maritime interdiction work on the coasts of the municipality of Bani, Peravia province.

The DNCD and the Navy, after receiving an alert that the occupants of a speedboat (Edwardian type) would try to introduce a significant quantity of drugs into Dominican territory, carried out an operation several nautical miles south of the aforementioned municipality.

Hours later, the authorities intercepted the boat of about 32 feet in length, arrested three men (two Colombians and one Dominican) and seized 26 bags containing 780 packages of the substance, the report indicates.

In this operation, two outboard motors of 90 Hp each, radio navigation equipment, three GPS, two cell phones, several jugs and fuel tanks and a cooler with water and groceries were also seized.
