The Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) gave teachers peace of mind by stating that any position of the Executive regarding the Fiscal Fund will be agreed upon with the educators’ unions.
Through a publication on social networks, the educational portfolio provided a statement that is related to the Fiscal Fund of the National Teaching.
The MEC points out that any position of the Executive on this matter “will be previously agreed upon” at work tables with the teachers’ unions.
“We continue to work on strengthening spaces for dialogue between the different sectors,” reads the tweet.

The statement from the Ministry of Education coincides with the debate on a plan to reform the Fiscal Fund, which was presented through a bill in Congress.
This is the bill “Which regulates the system for updating the retirement assets of retired civil servants and public employees of the Central Administration and the Civil Service”whose treatment had been postponed days ago in the Senate.
The proposal in question seeks to include reforms in the Fiscal Fund, to which public officials, university professors, judicial magistrates, as well as police, military and educators contribute. The main modification has to do with an equalization of the assets of retirees with those of active contributors.
From the Ministry of Finance they expressed their rejection of the project, since they consider that an eventual update to “match” these assets could represent millionaire losses for the Public Treasury.
