This Thursday, October 24, 2024, the 31st edition of the Economic Journalism Award of the National Association of Financial Institutions (Anif). At this ceremony, Portafolio, the economic and business newspaper of EL TIEMPO Publishing House, obtained three awards.

The medium achieved first place in the Written Category with the work ‘The troubles of the General Budget of the Nation 2024’, by journalist Daniel Hernández Naranjo, a journalistic investigation of 10 installments that highlighted the inconsistencies with the budget liquidation decree, that left works such as the Bogotá Metro at risk of running out of resources.
One of these deliveries was titled ‘Bogotá Metro and 20 4G lanes, among the works with pending resources from the 2024 Budget.
This journalistic investigation, of a purely economic nature, achieved not only that the Ministry of Finance had to redo the budget liquidation decree, through a decree of errors, and that it corrected the gross errors that put valuable investment resources for works at risk. already contracted.
At the same ceremony, Portafolio was also recognized with second and third place in the Young Journalist category. The award-winning notes were, in that order, ‘The complex task of growing and decarbonizing the economy’ and ‘Change in regulations left 38,000 families without a new home at Christmas.’
The first, authored by Daniela Morales Soler, published in the 64th edition of Portafolio Magazine, from the period May-June 2024, was a report that addressed the panorama of carbon dioxide emissions in Colombia and the challenges to lower to zero while maintaining a stable rate of economic growth.
In turn, journalist Paula Andrea Galeano Balaguera, who received third place recognition in this category, presented a two-page special that showed, with real cases, the situation that thousands of families went through when conditions changed. of access to the social housing subsidies already assigned, a situation that led them to have to give up the purchase.
