Port of Santos recorded the biggest movement in its history in 2025

Commodity devaluation causes trade surplus to decline in August

The Port of Santos, in São Paulo, recorded the largest cargo movement in its history in 2025: 186.4 million tons, an increase of 3.6% over the previous record, set in 2024, of 179.8 million tons. Port of Santos recorded the biggest movement in its history in 2025

Export shipment operations totaled 137.4 million tons in the year, a growth of 4.6%. Landings (imports) remained stable, with an increase of 1%, totaling 49 million tons.

The Port of Santos’ participation in the Brazilian trade chain also grew. The complex was responsible, in 2025, for 29.6% of all commercial transactions between Brazil and abroad, considering the value in US$ FOB. In 2024, the share was 29%.

“The year 2025 registered records in the movement of containers in all months, and general cargo in most months. The result demonstrates the resilience of the Port of Santos and the assertiveness of investments in infrastructure, in addition to attesting to Brazil’s growth in global trade”, said the president of the Port Authority of Santos, Anderson Pomini.

The country with which the port carried out the most cargo transactions in 2025 was China, recording 29.6% of all commercial flows.

The most exported products, in tons, through the port in 2025 were soybeans (44.9 million tons); sugar (24.1 million tons); corn (15.2 million tons); and cellulose (9.8 million). The main imports were fertilizer (8.3 million tons); diesel oil and gas oil (2.4 million tons); sulfur (2.04 million tons); and wheat (1.3 million).

The number of ships docked in 2025 reached 5,708, 2.7% higher than that recorded in 2024.

“The figures for the Port of Santos show that Brazil has once again invested with planning, legal security and a long-term vision. We are talking about a port that is breaking records, expanding its capacity and preparing to receive strategic investments, such as Tecon Santos 10, which will transform container logistics in the country”, celebrated the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho.
