The Voluntad Popular party ratified its founder, Leopoldo López, as national coordinator, after completing this Sunday the 31st its process of reviewing, updating and relegitimizing the National Team of Activists.
“This party was not born to cohabit with the dictatorship. Anyone who wants to cohabit and feel comfortable with the regimen has plenty of options outside of VP. This party was born to conquer freedom, to lead Venezuela to democracy and give hope to Venezuelans. Let’s not lose the north, let’s not get confused, “said López via Zoom.
The leader also announced the participation of his party in the opposition primaries to choose a presidential candidate, and reiterated his commitment to “materialize freedom and democracy in Venezuela.”
Former deputy and candidate for the governorship of Barinas Freddy Superlano was chosen as political coordinator, while deputy Adriana Pichardo will be attached to the position.
Superlano said that in the awning “nobody has anything to prove (…) everyone has risked something. The party that we have structured today is the party that, sooner rather than later, will achieve change in Venezuela.”

46,699 activists participated in the party’s legitimation assemblies and 11,128 authorities were elected at the municipal and regional levels. The VP internal election process was designed to have equal representation of all sectors and a proportion of authorities of 48.41% women and 51.59% men was obtained.
