The parliamentary bench of Popular Renewal issued a statement questioning the delay in the approval of bills related to citizen security by the Legislative Branch.
Along these lines, the group accused the Justice Commission—chaired by Isaac Mita—of Free Peru— to apply “dilatory measures” to postpone the modification of the law on organized crime.
Likewise, he denounced that behind this “boycott” is the leader of Peru Libre, Vladimir Cerrona fugitive from justice for 372 days.
“Cerrón is behind this boycott that has prevented not only the modification of the aforementioned norm (law on organized crime) but also the initiatives that sought to increase penalties for the crimes of extortion, hired assassination, aggravated robbery, among others,” says the document.

Likewise, Renovación Popular calls on the political parties represented on the Board of Directors of Congress—Alianza para el Progreso, Fuerza Popular and Avanza País—for having “agreed” so that the leadership of the Justice Commission falls into the hands of “Cerronistas.”
“We demand the political parties represented on the Board of Directors to immediately remedy this situation and demand the resignation of Perú Libre from such an important commission. Renovación Popular has not and will not lend itself to political agreements that put personal interests above the interests of the country,” the statement added.
