This is the second failed meeting between the organizers of the strike and the authorities due to lack of agreement.
The meeting that sought to reach agreements on the list of demands was headed by the Minister of Public Works Deligne Ascención Burgos, the Governor of the Duarte province, Ana Xiomara Cortes Tuesday Franklin Romero, Senator of the province, Duarte, Wellington Arno, Monsignor Freddy de la Cruz bishop of this Diocese director of INAPA Olmedo Caba Romano, Director of INDHRI, Pedro Moronta, Miguel Medina, General Director of UASD; Father Isaac García de la Cruz Sixto Romano, from FALPO; Odilín Morel, from the Union of Neighborhood Councils; Yoel Martínez, president of the Federation of Dominican Students; César Trinidad, from the Mama Tingó Peasant Federation; Reimyn Vargas, for FELABEL and José Ariel Paulino.
“We went to the meeting thinking that the authorities would propose some solutions to the demands that motivate the call for a strike, but they did not propose anything concrete, as if they did not know the demands well before they became a government. The people no longer believe in the promises of the PRM government, it always happens with the wind; the Popular Movement and all of us francomacorisanos want hands on deeds.
They said that they do not see political will on the part of the government of Luis Abinader and the PRM to attend to the needs of the municipality of San Francisco de Macorís; In promises and announcements of work, the present authorities are champions, but to date they do not fulfill what was promised or even a single one of the heartfelt demands of the people.
“Nevertheless, we are open to dialogue, but the President of the Republic must send a commission of competent ministers, with solutions, to demonstrate his willingness to attend to the needs of the Franco-Macorisan people.
They reiterated their demands: elimination of high taxes on fuels and the elimination of the mafia controls, so that prices fall; discount on basic necessities for an affordable family basket; sanitation of the large ravine; construction of a culture square; the San Francisco de Macorís highway to Río San Juan; construction of Nursery School, Library and other complementary works of the UASD-San Francisco; construction of sidewalks and curbs and paving of streets; completion of the Regional Hospital for Medical Specialties; construction of schools, among others.

Among the works are the construction of the San Vicente de Paúl hospital, the Circunvalación avenue, the Ugaban bridge, the Fire Department, among others that are in the bidding process, as reported.
The Minister of Public Works, presented a list of the execution of that organism in this city, mainly the asphalting of different roads of the population.
Government officials said that President Luis Abinader is committed to the construction of the works that are claimed by the popular sectors, but that some are scheduled for next year.
In the end, the leader Raúl Monegro ratified the strike call after no agreement was reached. Indicating that only with the arrival of the teams and the government starting the work could the strike not be carried out.
It established that the authorities have not given the people any opportunity other than the protest, which is why the strike call is maintained.
