On Tuesday night, a group of people broke into the premises of the Popular Action party, located on Av. 9 de Diciembre in downtown Lima. According to members of the political group, this vandalism event would have its origin in the disputes between Edmundo del Águila and Julio Chávez, both candidates for the General Secretariat of the party.
Everything was registered. The video broadcast through social networks shows that, after a series of stunts, how one of the men managed to climb to the balcony of the building. Once inside the premises, it is presumed that he would have forced the lock on the main door to let his co-religionists enter.
According to statements made by Pedro Rosario, mayor of the Rímac district and member of Popular Action, those who broke into the party’s facilities would have been sent by Julio Chávez, current mayor of San Martín de Porres and also a member of the political group, who was trying to seize of the property.
However, based on the information released by the new Electoral Committee, it is Chávez who would have proclaimed himself the new secretary of the party.
As is known, there would be a dispute within the party for the General Secretariat. Edmundo del Águila and Julio Chávez would be the two characters facing each other for this position in Acción Popular. It is still unknown in favor of whom the vandals that were shown in the video broadcast through social networks would have acted.
Although the Police have stationed themselves outside the building, they have decided not to intervene, since that would mean taking sides with one of the two parties and, according to Latina, the security forces hope that the party can quickly resolve these internal disputes.
