The political party Popular Action a statement issued rejecting that the parliamentarian Elvis Vergara The Ethics Commission of Congress in the 2025-2026 period presides.
This is why this responsibility must fall on a “congressman who is exempt from legal and ethical questions, to preserve the image of Parliament and the party itself.”
They indicated that the decision has not been consulted with the party, responding to a decision made by members of parliamentary representation.
In the statement, Popular Action also reports that they have marked distance from the actions and decisions of the bench as long as the definitive separation of the parliamentarian Raúl Doroteo is not completed.
It should be noted that Vergara weighs a constitutional complaint filed last July by the Prosecutor’s Office for the alleged crimes of criminal organization, influence traffic and aggravated collusion.
The measure extends to another 24 congressmen from different parliamentary groups, several of them also members of Popular Action such as Juan Mori, Ilich López, Raúl Doroteo and Wilson Soto, among others.
According to the complaint, all of them together with some ministers of state of the coup government Pedro Castillo would have participated under the command of the former president in an alleged criminal organization aimed at negotiating congressional votes in exchange for directing tenders and public hiring in the Ministries of Transport and Communications; Housing, construction and sanitation; and production.
Also in public bodies such as the National Superintendence of Migration, the National Police and the National Ports Company.
