The Popular Action political party presented this Saturday a letter approved by its National Plenary, in which it demands the resignation of President Pedro Castillo due to the series of questions and for having kept Aníbal Torres as head of the PCM. The group also asked its bench that, from Congress, support the motions of vacancy or constitutional complaint against the president.
“We regret that the President of the Republic persists in the error, keeping the Prime Minister and several ministers questioned, even appointing a minister who was censured by the Congress of the Republic,” the document states in reference to Betssy’s appointment. Chavez as Minister of Culture.
“Because of this, we demand the resignation of Pedro Castillo Terrones, as a constitutional solution to the political crisis and misrule. In the event that President Castillo does not resign, Acción Popular declares itself in favor of the vacancy or of the constitutional complaint that is presented, urging the members of our caucus to vote in favor,” said the political party in its statement presented by social networks.

Likewise, the LAMPA party reaffirmed its position as an opposition group to the Castillo government, asserting that no militant will hold positions in the ministry, deputy ministry or any position that is of trust.
This letter is presented after the head of state swore in six ministers last Friday, August 5, in which the appointments of Betssy Chávez stood out, who returns to the Executive in command of the Culture portfolio, or Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Mackay, who will be in charge of the Foreign Ministry and who, even before assuming his role as minister, was a recognized opponent of the Executive.
Popular Action calls for the approval of a return to bicamerality
On the other hand, the political organization asked Congress to speed up the debate and approval of the reform of the return to bicamerality, under the excuse that it is a measure that “improves the levels of representation and balance of powers.”
