The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Laura Sarabia, was one of the first people of the Colombian government to react to the Death of Pope Francis On the morning of this Monday.

In a message on her X account, the chancellor thanked the leader of the Catholic Church for being the voice of the poor, migrants and afflicted.

“Thank you for being a symbol of hope and renewal for the Church. Thank you for looking into the eyes to the most vulnerable. Thank you for being the voice of the poor, the migrants, the most afflicted. Pope Francis taught us to see God in every detail. He leaves us a legacy of love, humility and surrender. Rest in peace, Holy Father”Saabia said.

For his part, the Minister of Labor, Antonio Sanguino, also joined the messages of condolences and said that “The world regrets the departure of Pope Francis: a Latin American who committed the Catholic Church with peace, respect for diversity and care of life and the planet. It leaves us as a legacy, the encyclical laudato yes, an inspiring clamor for life and the environment”.
