Pope Francis expresses his pain for migrant dramas in Melilla and Texas

The Pope Francisco He expressed his “pain” on Tuesday for the “tragedies” suffered by migrants in the Spanish enclave of Melilla and in Texas, which left dozens dead in recent days.

“I received with pain the news of the migrant tragedies in Texas and in Melilla,” the pontiff said on Twitter. “Let us pray together that our brothers who died looking for the hope of a better life,” he added.

On Monday at least 46 migrants were found dead in a truck on a route near San Antonio, in Texas, in the United States, in one of the worst migratory tragedies in recent years.

On Friday, at least 23 migrants were killed in clashes with police as they tried to enter the Spanish enclave of Melilla in northern Morocco.
