Due to all this experience in the political universe, his death, caused by pancreatic cancer, generated great repercussion among friends and politicians of the most diverse ideological currents.

Former President Michel Temer, who had Jungmann as Minister of Defense and Public Security, wrote in a note:

“A Brazilian who knew how to serve the country. Wherever he went he left his mark. Whether as minister of Agrarian Reform, minister of Defense and Public Security, or as a great parliamentarian. Sadness on a civic level, missed on a personal level. Rest in peace, Raul!”

Paulo Teixeira, Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Farming in the Lula government posted a message on his social networks:

“As long as his health allowed, he participated, with generosity and democratic spirit, in the council of former ministers of Agrarian Development that I set up as a space for consultation and reflection in the ministry. My thanks and my condolences go to Raul Jungmann’s family and friends.”

STF Minister, Gilmar Mendes published a long text about Jungmann on social media. An excerpt:

“Raul was a public man of rare integrity and extraordinary republican density. In the exercise of central functions in the Brazilian State, especially as minister in the government of Fernando Henrique, he was part of a true dream team committed to institutional stabilization, structural reforms and the consolidation of the constitutional order inaugurated in 1988. (…) Brazil loses a great public man; I lose a friend.”

Another STF minister, Alexandre de Moraes, also spoke, in a note, about Jungmann’s death:

“Raul Jungmann, a great democrat, was an example of a public man, who held various positions, always with competence, loyalty and efficiency, as I witnessed during the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, when we worked together to coordinate the intelligence and security of the event”.

Randolfe Rodrigues, senator and government leader in the National Congress, posted:

“Brazilian politics loses a great figure, a man of dialogue, firmness and deep commitment to the public interest. His legacy, his example and the longing for all who believe in good politics remain.”

The governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Marcelo Leite, is another politician who mourned the death of Raul Jungmann:

“I deeply regret the death of Raul Jungmann, at the age of 73, a public man with a remarkable career and great commitment to Brazil. He acted with seriousness and a republican spirit at different moments in national life, leaving a relevant contribution to public service.”

Cidadania, the last party to which Jungmann was affiliated, released an official note from its president, Roberto Freire, lamenting and remembering the politician’s trajectory:

“Even after his formal departure from the party, he maintained a close relationship with Cidadania. He continued to be a partner, present in the political debate and available to contribute with ideas and training.”

THE Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM)a body that had Raul Jungmann as president, reported that the politician’s wake will take place this Monday (19), from 3:30 pm to 5 pm, in the chapel of the Campo da Esperança Cemetery, in Brasília. The ceremony is restricted to relatives and close friends.
