The CAL also classified as pending the prosecution of the former president and the members of the Judicial Council.
The Legislative Administration Council (CAL), with the vote of the six members present, qualified three impeachment requests for alleged breach of duty against the members of the Citizen Participation and Social Control Council (CPCCS) and the former president and members of the Judicial Council.
First of all, the CAL qualified the request for prosecution against the 7 CPCCS counselors, presented by assembly members Ricardo Vanegas and José Chimbo; the request is based on the appointment of César Córdova as the Ombudsman in charge; the dismissal of the member of the Judicial Council, Fausto Murillo; and, by the appointment of Pablo Iglesias Paladines as Superintendent of Territorial Planning.
Likewise, the agency admitted for processing the impeachment request of the proponents Ángel Maita Zapata and Mireya Pazmiño Arregui against Hernán Ulloa, María Fernanda Rivadeneira, Ibeth Estupiñán and Francisco Bravo, members of the Participation Councilfor having modified the regulations to elect the new Comptroller General of the State approved by the agency last August.
Finally, the CAL qualified the impeachment request presented by Viviana Veloz and Fausto Jarrín Terán, against María del Carmen Maldonado (former president) and Fausto Murillo Fierro, Ruth Barreno Velín and Juan José Morillo Velasco, members of the judiciary Council.
The Secretary General of the National Assembly will send, within a maximum period of three days, the request for impeachment together with the supporting documentation to the President of the Commission for Oversight and Political Control so that he may acknowledge and substantiate the process, in accordance with the provisions of article 80 of the Organic Law of the Legislative Function.
