Havana Cuba. – The political prisoner Ramón Pérez Conde denounced the living conditions suffered by inmates in the maximum security prison Eastern Combinedwhere he is imprisoned serving a sentence of 12 years of deprivation of liberty.

Moncho Pérez offered details to CubaNet by telephone about the food served in the prison. As he describes, “the soup they give is water, just like the hash, which looks like tap water.”

“The main thing in prison is food and it is terrible. They give one egg per person, and sometimes the main dish is half a cup of scrambled coffee, ”she denounced.

Regarding the cleaning that must be delivered to inmates in prisons, he said that “they are only giving half a laundry soap” monthly; In addition, “they don’t give out razor blades,” since the prisoner must send them to look for them from his house.

“About the medications… There are people here who have been wanting to go to the dentist for a long time and it is based on a tooth because they do not solve anything, there is no anesthesia; and they themselves say that the person (relative) bring the medication from home because there are none here, Thursdays are the days that they accept them,” said the activist from the Cuban Civic Embassy.

Ramón Pérez Conde was sentenced for the alleged crime of enemy propaganda. According to his sentencing record, issued by the Chamber for Crimes against State Security, the activist was sentenced to jail for carrying out “direct calls in which he encouraged the physical presence of citizens to speak out against the State.”

According to the regime, the live broadcasts had “counterrevolutionary content, incitement to protest, to the overthrow of the socialist state.”

Moncho Pérez was recently physically abused for dressing in white and shouting “¡Patria y Vida!” and “Down with the dictatorship!”, for which he was transferred to a punishment cell for five days, according to what he denounced.

“This is hard, strong (…). We have to have strength here because this is for a long time”, lamented the opponent. “I don’t know how so many people on the street can keep quiet knowing that there are so many young prisoners, too many prisoners suffering,” he concluded.
