Political prisoner Ángel Castro, back to the east combined: “They want to throw two more years”

“He has not gone to trial, I was denied to put a lawyer …”, denounces the mother of the political prisoner.

Havana, Cuba. – “State security told me they were going to throw him two years [más de cárcel]but nobody explains to me, nobody responds to me, not even the Prosecutor’s Office ”, said to Cubanet Beatriz Carrera Díaz, mother of the political prisoner Ángel Castro Carrera, who already serves a six -year sentence of deprivation of liberty for the alleged crime of sabotage in the Maximum Combined Security prison in the East, in Havana.

After going out to enjoy his third pass home, last March – while he was under a minimum severity regime in the Zero Zero Correctional Work camp -, Castro Carrera was informed of the revocation of his status, which forced him to return to the east combined.

“What will my son’s legal situation stand? It has not gone to the trial, I was denied to put a lawyer … In the east combined I have talked with several bosses, but they are all the same lie,” the interviewee denounced.

“Of course I do not agree with those two years that they want to throw.

As he explained, to his son the minimum severity regime was revoked “for a comment on [Miguel] Díaz-Canel that he did ”and that was published on Facebook.

Cubanet He found a video of Castro Carrera Posted in that social network on March 9 of this year by Cuban opponent José Díaz Silva, exiled in USA. In the recording the young man denounces the crisis in Cuba and says: “This is for you, Díaz-Canel, you are Passageyou are a disrespect with the family, with mothers; You are a DESCARAO. Díaz-Canel, what DESCARAO you are”.

For its part, the Cubalex Legal Information Center points out that the revocation of the minimum severity regime applied to the political prisoner is due to its “publications and complaints about the conditions in jail”.

“No one knows what I spend to do the jolongo [bolsa de comida] To my son, ”said Beatriz. The 63 -year -old woman told Cubanet who looks in the landfills of the corners of Poey, Arroyo Naranjo, everything he can sell to buy food not only to fill the sack that every month takes his son to the prison, but also to feed herself. “The only way I can take the food plate is going to the trash; otherwise it can’t be. I have never failed in a visit,” he said.

The woman also revealed that the 30 -year -old does not know that she gets up at 5:00 in the morning to scrutinize the garbage containers. Although he is not ashamed of what he does to bring food to his son, he acknowledges that he is endangering his own life: “I am afraid that something will happen to me and infect myself because I am diabetic,” he lamented.

“If Angel was on the street I did not go to find anything because everything I need would give it to me. One day I went to an almost barefoot visit and he took off his shoes right there and put them on me,” he said.

“My son has not killed anyone, he simply is not with this government as I am neither.

Currently, Ángel Castro Carrera is held in building 1, fourth south, company 14 of the Eastern team. The young man was imprisoned in 2021 and convicted by a military court for the alleged crime of sabotage. Supposedly, the young man destroyed the crystals of a store in MLC Sita in the town of Santiago de Las Vegas.
