As of today, political parties that seek to register with the National Elections Board (JNE) will no longer need to present at least 24,800 members, but now they will have to demonstrate that they have at least 25,288.

The JNE published resolution 0032-2023-JNE yesterday, in the official newspaper El Peruano, which determines that the minimum number of affiliates that a political party must have to register is, from now on, 25,288, “a quantity that is equivalent to 0.1 % of the total number of qualified voters registered in the Electoral Roll for the 2021 general elections”, which is now 25’287,954.

Electoral expert José Naupari pointed out to this medium that it is not that the JNE has raised the minimum number of affiliates, but rather that, as the number of registered voters increases, the minimum number of affiliates for a party to register also increases. .
