An agreement that could mark the course in 2026.
Eight months after the presidential elections of April next year, this morning the second programmatic work table was held among seven games.
In it, six – PC, Modern Force, Apra, Avanza Country, Popular Action and Unity and Peace – signed an agreement to face the lack of water and sanitation in Peru. A technical gesture of social scope, but that begins to acquire deeper political readings.
The commitment aims to guarantee access to drinking water and sewerage to the 3 million Peruvians who still lack that essential service, and was also backed by Popular Force, present at the table called ‘Bases for a water and sanitation status policy’.
At the end of the meeting, the organizer of the appointment, the journalist Jaime de Althaus, stressed the transcendence of the pact and said that the dialogues between the seven groups not only tend bridges towards technical consensus, but they could also pave the way for political backups in an eventual presidential ballot in 2026.
Jaime de Althaus pointed out on Facebook Live of Peru21 that the tables seek to generate confidence between seven games, and facilitate backups in a possible second round in 2026 (1h31m).
“The idea is that. It is to create an environment of trust between parties and joint work, which will facilitate political support in a second round. And, above all, governance, in case some of those parties come to power can have a majority coalition in Congress for governance,” Jaime de Althaus told Peru21.
The games speak
The president of Popular Action, Julio Chávez, told Peru21 That the work table serves to build a support base in a eventual second round.
“Totally (yes), and not only in a second round but in a government scenario. Today the construction of alliances and coalitions, rather than ideological, is programmatic. If there are programmatic coincidences, the parties have to gather with those who want the best for the country and believe that this is the way,” Chávez explained.
The president of the Popular Christian Party, Carlos Neuhaus, said that many discrepancies are usually technical and non -political.
“It is very good to talk to them in a technical forum where ideas are exchanged, because no one owns the truth. The fact that professionals of great experience are gathered helps things flow and, once in a second round or in a government, there is a tool to leave. We have been adversaries, but today we sit down to talk,” he said.
For his part, the leader and ex -congressman Jorge del Castillo said that eventual support between the games at the table has not been a matter of discussion.
However, he admitted that when that moment comes, “the matches with the greatest affinities and meeting points are the ones that are most possibilities to add.” He clarified that it is not alliances, but of a closer and amic treatment that facilitates future agreements.
Finally, the representative of Force Popular, Carmen Lozada, sustained Peru21 It is still very premature to talk about that scenario.
Next work table
The organizer of the programmatic table, Jaime de Althaus, said that the next meeting will be in September and will have health. He explained that each meeting starts with a forum and then develops at work tables.
