In the first conference of the Electoral Tribunal on the General Election Plan (Plagel), as part of the planning of each electoral process, the First Vice President Magistrate and Director of Plagel, Eduardo Valdés Escoffery, discussed topics of interest with the national press, including until when people who aspire to popularly elected positions can participate in public acts or inaugurations that are promoted with state money.

“As of February 1, all those who aspire to positions of popular election are prevented from participating in acts of inauguration of public works or financed with public resources,” said Escoffery.

Regarding the date of January 15 given by the executive for people in the government with political aspirations, Escoffery said that date was chosen by the government itself and not by the Electoral Tribunal “what we have learned from the media is that the government has required no later than January 15, those who work in the public sector must resign if they aspire to a position, that January 15 unilaterally that the executive set, is a much earlier date than the one that the code requires for those who are going to leave. apply, the code says that if you are going to participate as a pre-candidate for a popular election position for the next elections, once your application is published in the bulletin it will be sent to the elections commission of your party, you must resign in the next 5 days, but that depends on the respective calendar of each party, there are parties that are going to hold primaries, there are others that are not, but for each of the methods of choosing their candidates by their p game, they must stick to the calendar of their party”.

He also referred to the primary elections of the different political parties to choose their presidential candidates, detailing the dates of said internal voting, which will be:

Democratic Change Party on June 4
