the cuban president Miguel Diaz-Canelreceived this Monday the chancellor PanamanianJanaina Tewaney Mencomo, who has been on an official visit to the island since Saturday the 28th.

This is the first visit at this level during the current Government of Panama, “which we appreciate as a gesture” because “it can mark a milestone in the bilateral relations of both nations,” Díaz-Canel said, quoted by the Cuban News Agency (acn).

The president expressed the will to strengthen political and diplomatic dialogue, as well as to advance in all areas that “we distinguish in which we can have economic-commercial cooperation.”

As explained by the Panamanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for its part, the agenda included talks about the next meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism between the two countries and the Mixed Cooperation Commission.

Mencomo, who traveled to Havana together with the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Federico Alfaro Boyd, has also met with his counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, and with the head of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca.
