Police want to seize passport of person involved in the death of dog Orelha

The Civil Police of Santa Catarina requested the seizure of the passport of the teenager accused of the death of the dog Orelha, in Praia Brava, in Florianópolis. The request was made to the court. The Federal Police was also notified about the request. The objective is to prevent the teenager from leaving the country.Police want to seize passport of person involved in the death of dog Orelha

In a statement, the Civil Police said that the state’s Public Ministry (MP) was in favor of the request.

“The institution has acted constantly so that the complaints of those involved can proceed to justice along with the other evidence already obtained in the investigations into Cão Orelha’s death”, says the note.

Divergences

The investigation into the case faces differences between the Civil Police and the MP. Also on Friday (6), the MP informed that it will request the Civil Police, in the coming days, to take additional steps in the investigations carried out following the death of the dog Orelha.

According to the MP, both the 10th Public Prosecutor’s Office of the capital, in the area of Children and Youth, and the 2nd Public Prosecutor’s Office, in the criminal area, concluded that there was a need for more clarification and greater precision in the reconstruction of the events.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office said it identified gaps that need to be filled in the investigation “of the possible participation of teenagers in criminal acts similar to animal abuse, related to the death of one of the dogs”.

For the Civil Police, there is a legal basis for requesting the hospitalization of the teenager investigated for the death of the community dog.

Possible coercion

The agency also said that it continues to investigate the possible practice of coercion during the process and threats involving family members of the teenagers being investigated and a doorman at a condominium in Praia Brava. The MP said that he concluded that there was a need to expand and detail the investigation of the facts and “will request additional steps from the Civil Police, including to confirm the non-existence of a relationship between the alleged crimes and the aggression against animals”.

On Tuesday (3), the Civil Police of Santa Catarina closed investigations into the attacks that led to the death of the dog Orelha and requested the hospitalization of one of the four teenagers involved in the crime.

To be able to prove the participation of the author – whose name was not revealed because he was a minor – the authorities had to resort to imported technology and analysis of images from security cameras.

Filming

According to police information, more than a thousand hours of footage captured by 14 cameras were analyzed. In addition, 24 witnesses were interviewed.

The images analyzed were essential for the authorities, although there are no recordings of the moment of the attack on the animal. It was through them that investigators were able to check the clothes worn by the accused boy on the day of the crime, in addition to proving that he had left the condominium where he lives in the early hours of the morning.
