The opposition member and professor Guisella Ortega, known as “Taylor”, was violently detained on the morning of this Thursday, November 24, at her home in Managua, denounced Ivannia Álvarez, coordinator of citizen networks of Urnas Abiertas.
At the time of the arrest, the 35-year-old was at her home in the San Judas neighborhood in District III of Managua with her two-year-old daughter. The police officers showed up at the opponent’s home, entered her and violently removed her from her home, Álvarez explained.
“The young activist from Managua, Guisella Ortega, who has been harassed since 2018 at her home in San Judas, was taken away by the Ortega Police this morning with luxury of violence. Guisella has a baby and she left her alone with her nephew, since there was no one else in her house,” she said.

On May 2, 2020, Guisella Ortega was detained by the Police at the service of the dictators Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo in her home. The incident occurred in the El Jogo community, Pochocuape region, in the capital, when the teacher was heading towards her workplace. The victim denounced that the agents of her regime released her, but they prohibited her from leaving her home, warning her that she is being watched.
On two occasions the Ortega Police have kidnapped the teacher Guisella Ortega. The first time was on September 29, 2018, while Iván Montenegro was in the market. He spent nine days in the old facilities of the Directorate of Judicial Assistance (DAJ) in Managua.
Then she was kidnapped again on August 19, 2019, when in the early hours of the morning she was at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-Managua), preparing to post flyers as protests against the dictator Daniel Ortega, on that occasion there was a Captive day in “El nuevo Chipote”.
The young woman joined social protests in 2018 and led several marches in the capital. She always sported a blue and white Nicaraguan flag. In addition, she with her booming voice shouted slogans and encouraged the participants of the demonstrations.
