MIAMI, United States.- Another episode of police violence has taken place in Cuba. A video of two police officers beating a Cuban peasant with impunity, and threatening to beat a woman, has generated contemptuous reactions among Internet users inside and outside the island.
The images, recorded by relatives of the young man and shared on Facebook by Internet user Leo P. Garcés, they show one of the police officers getting angry with Alejandro, as the peasant is called, whom he tries to handcuff in the middle of an argument.
According to Garcés, the event occurred in Purnio, San Andrés, province of Holguín. “It is not necessary to say more, just see an example of how they ‘love love and hate hate,'” he wrote next to the video, which so far has hundreds of comments and reactions.
In the recording, of just over a minute, the police officer is seen handcuffing the young man, while he claims that it is not necessary, because the handcuffs are tight. Alejandro also shows concern for her horse, while a woman accuses the repressor of threatening to beat her and her mother.
“I will go where I have to go. Because I simply asked her a question, and she treated me like a bitch, that she was going to give me too, “said the woman, apparently the detainee’s mother.
It was then that the policeman grabbed the young man by the neck and began to hit him in the face. The other policeman present only holds the horse’s bridles.
“Leave it, I’m going right now where I have to go. Abusive, cheeky, “the woman shouted.
“This is how the police defend the people, hitting a child after he is handcuffed. We are continuity. Why don’t they put that on TV? It is an indignation, that is how the police are in our country, there is no difference with the Batista government,” wrote an outraged Internet user.
“Let’s see what the cirbeclarias can tell me about this, that’s called abuse of power, look over there, worse than the Rural Guard,” wrote another regarding police violence on the island, reported multiple times.
