Police summon Andrea Vidal's friend for this Saturday

In the midst of investigations into the murder of a former advisor to the Congress of the RepublicAlexandra Gil, friend of the deceased Andrea Vidaland named in the case, described a police summons as irregular.

Through a post on Facebook, Gil expressed that she was notified within a period of less than the 3 regulatory business days and that, despite having informed about her end-of-year trip, she was summoned for this Saturday.

“Everything very strange and irregular,” wrote Gil, questioning the procedure of the National Police of Peru. The subpoena comes as the case continues to generate public and political controversy.

Eduardo Salhuana said that he will not step down from office to guarantee transparency in the investigations and avoid a possible shielding of his APP party, as five groups have asked him to do.

WHAT ABOUT THE CASE

A morning full of contradictions was what characterized the appearance of Jorge Torres Saraviaformer head of the Legal and Constitutional Office of Parliament, before the Oversight Commission, chaired by Congressman Juan Burgos.

Around 11 am yesterday, the former official – accused of leading an alleged pimping network within Parliament – arrived accompanied by his lawyer, Benji Espinoza, to the session convened by the working group.

After him, two other officials came to give their defenses and answer the list of questions from the congressmen. These were Haidy Figueroa, head of the Human Resources Department, and Giovanni Forno, senior congressional official.

In his statement, Torres denied having been pressured by members of any party, referring to the Alliance for Progress, to place someone in the office he directed.

“Never and at no time have I received pressure from congressmen, officials or other external people to be able to place or admit a person. We make the proposal for 1, 2 or 3 people, but the person who carries out the qualification, recruitment and hiring process is the Human Resources area of Congress,” he mentioned.

On more than one occasion, the parliamentarians consulted him regarding the hiring of the young women involved, such as the murdered Andrea Vidal, Alexandra Gil and Isabel Cajo, who today works as a technician in the office of legislator Edwin Martínez.
