In a shocking incident recorded on video, National Police officers managed to shoot down a drone belonging to the FARC dissidents in Policarpa, Nariño.
The event, which took place in the Madrigal town in broad daylight, attracted the attention of numerous curious onlookers, including minors, women and men, who witnessed the scene.
In the footage, officers can be seen firing into the sky, trying to shoot down the drone. For nearly two minutes, the police opened fire, while one person on the scene shouted “aim,” followed by bursts of gunfire.
Video of the incident highlights the officers’ determination to confront this new threat.
According to the military, approximately 80 drone attacks have been reported in the region in the past year, including explosives and overflights.
These attacks have led the Ministry of Defense to evaluate new actions to counter these tactics used by illegal armed groups.
Defense Minister Iván Velásquez recently mentioned that essential systems are being implemented in various regions of the country to confront these threats.
“We have been making progress in various regions of the country where these systems are indispensable to confront these new threats that illegal armed groups, particularly in the southwest of the country, have been advancing,” Velásquez said a week ago.
