Officials of the Montevideo Police Headquarters managed to seize up to six firearms after a raid carried out in a house located in the neighborhood Penarol.
The police action was the result of an investigation initiated after the report of the theft of a car in the Carrasco neighborhood. The investigators of the Operational Zone II carried out an analysis of the video surveillance cameras arranged in the area, which allowed them to track the vehicle to the garage of a house in the Peñarol neighborhood.
The Police went to the house and, after carrying out a raid on it, they recovered the vehicle and also discovered the presence of a pistol and five 38mm caliber revolvers, which they seized. They also seized 257 ammunition of various calibers,
As a result of the seizure of the weapons, the authorities arrested a 48-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man, both with no criminal record. Both detainees were summoned to appear before the Justice when required.
