Violence against women continues to increase in Nicaragua. Queen Isabel Lopez Perez37 years old, and his teenage daughter with initials MLP, 13, are the most recent victims of femicide in the country.
According to the National Police, the crime occurred last Friday, April 28, in the Kwuiwi Tingni community, about 45 kilometers from the urban area of the Waspam municipality, in the North Caribbean; and they point to Noel Antonio Rostrán Amador, who was the spouse of Reina Isabel and stepfather of the minor, as the main suspect.
The authorities detailed that the subject arrived at his partner’s house in a drunken state and after having an argument murdered Queen Elizabeth and then her daughter with a firearm.

In addition, they indicated that Rostrán Amador and his spouse argued because the man had allegedly raped the 13-year-old girl. The subject, after committing the crime, fled the scene, and is now wanted by the Police, who have circulated a photograph of him.
The authorities asked the population to help with any information that allows them to find the whereabouts of this subject who they need to capture not only for the crimes committed, but also to prevent him from continuing to do harm.
It was learned that Noel Rostrán Amador, now a fugitive from justice, is originally from the municipality of El Tortuguero, in the department of Río San Juan.
The number of femicides in Nicaragua continues to rise. In the first three months of 2023, the Observatorio Voces, from the feminist organization Catholics for the Right to Decide (CDD), has registered that at least 26 women have been victims of sexist violence.
The agency detailed that, between January and March 2023, 16 of the 26 femicides were committed in the national territory and 10 were perpetrated abroad: five in Costa Rica, three in the United States, one in Mexico and another in Guatemala, countries where entire families have emigrated due to the repression of the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.
