The statement indicates that the incidents occurred at Km 36 of the city of Itá, where a group belonging to the Association of Iteño Truckers, proceeded to completely close the road, which led to the presence of police officers from Police Station 12 , for the purpose of explaining to them the illegality of that act and requesting immediate clearance.
They point out that the truck drivers were armed with sticks and stones, and attacked the police personnel, resulting in injuries to both the Chief and the Deputy Chief of the aforementioned agency.
“Next, in use of the powers conferred by the Code of Criminal Procedure, the rational use of force and the use of a less lethal weapon (shotgun with rubber pellets) was carried out, to restore the broken Public Order,” the statement said.
Also, one of the truck drivers was injured, for which he was transferred to the National Hospital, where he is under police protection as an apprehended person. Likewise, the others involved have been identified.
