This was reported by the head of the Piura Police Region, General PNP, Manuel Farías Zapata, who together with the PNP colonels, Ricardo Rojas Rojas (Secretary of the Regpol Piura) and Sergio Monroy Díaz (head of the Divopus Piura), participated in the inauguration of the new headquarters of the “Social Affairs Section – Protection of Civil Works” of the National Police of Peru.

The officer explained that the personnel of this Civil Works Protection Unit in conjunction with the GIR Group (group of rapid interventions) will give protection and security to citizens and entrepreneurs belonging to the sector of works.
“We want to tell the population that the deaths of the works will end and end the hegemony of the works, because of the struggle of wanting to dominate that these badly called civil construction that are killing each other,” said Farías.
The officer said that with these vehicles and the increase in personnel to this unit will protect the works.
“With this new equipment, with these new police units and specialized personnel we will enter with everything to the works and expect the collaboration of all citizens,” Farías said.
The police chief said they will not allow foreigners or Piuranos themselves to take the works both in Piura and Sullana.
He explained that the staff of this unit has been trained in the city of Lima by organized crime and prosecutor’s office.
Farías mentioned that they have already met with entrepreneurs and managers in charge of the works so that they do not hire people who “assure them that they will take care of their works.”
“We have asked them not to hire criminals. We are going to take all the works from the beginning and we will have mapped with intelligence staff to know who are working because criminals are often filtered into civil construction.
Finally, the police chief thanked the Regional Government of Piura for the delivery of the trucks that will serve for the fight against citizen insecurity. “I appreciate the logistical support from the regional government,” he said.
