In the morning hours of this Monday, December 12, the Police at the service of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo raided the home of María Victoria Pérez, lawyer for the Diocese of Matagalpa and wife of Manuel Obando, a trusted journalist of Monsignor Rolando Álvarez detained on Sunday night, December 11.
The lawyer and expert in the administration of justice, Yader Morazán, denounced on social networks the search of Pérez’s house, which occurred a few hours after the capture of her husband, who is also a media director for the same Diocese.
“They have just raided the house of María Victoria Pérez, a lawyer for the Diocese of Matagalpa, who had been summoned by the PN. She is the wife of Manuel Antonio Obando Cortedano, journalist and media chief of that Diocese, who was kidnapped yesterday night,” Morazán denounced on his Twitter account.

Morazán affirmed that María Victoria Pérez, the lawyer for the Diocese, is in charge of coordinating the program of Diocesan Judicial Facilitators of Matagalpa, a project in conjunction with the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) that was signed between that State power and the Bishop Rolando Álvarez, now a political prisoner of Ortega.
The arrest of Manuel Obando
Manuel Obando is the official journalist of Monsignor Rolando Álvarez, a political prisoner and bishop of the Diocese of Matagalpa, he always accompanied the cardinal on his visits to towns. He also covered the various attacks the bishop suffered before his capture. He was the official image of TV Merced and commissioned by the media.
«The journalist from the Diocese of Matagalpa, Manuel Obando, was kidnapped on Sunday night, December 11, in a scandalous police operation. Anonymous sources point out that this capture “is not like that” and stress that the dictatorship “perhaps intends to use it for other purposes and accuse Monsignor Rolando (Alvarez) of crimes that they want to fabricate.”
Those who know Manuel Obando assure that he is a very good young man, noble and dedicated to the Church. In addition, he accompanied the Bishop of Matagalpa on various pastoral trips, including his trips to the Vatican.
