Police raid house of musician Josué Monroy again

Six agents of the National Police raided the house of musician Josué Monroy on Holy Thursday for the second time, and took the musical instruments that remained in the home located in Altamira, he told CONFIDENTIAL a source close to the musician who witnessed the moment the uniformed men arrived.

After his catch on tuesdayin a raid that included the arrest of music producers Salvador Espinoza and Xóchitl Tapia, owners of SAXO Producciones, and musician and businessman Leonardo Canales, Monroy’s relatives confirmed that their relative is in the Judicial Assistance cells, known as El Chipote.

“If on Tuesday they arrived in a violent and overwhelming manner, and even jumped over the outer wall, this time more decent ones arrived, ringing the doorbell of the house,” said the source, who observed the new raid.

“They came back on Thursday and when they left, like 90 minutes later, they had their guitars, amps, microphones, cables, speakers, and other smaller items. Already before (on Tuesday), we saw that they took two laptops, and a camera, but I don’t know what they intend to prove with that. It is irrational, illogical, absurd, because they are artists; They are not criminals, ”considered a relative on condition of anonymity.

Sources from the artistic environment detail that Monroy had cut off all relationship with Juan Carlos Ortega Murillo, son of the presidential couple, who was still looking for him to act with them in the band “Ciclo”. Since he refused to have contact with any figure in the dictatorship, he began to receive threats from unknown numbers.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, April 12, the Ortega regime ordered the arrest of Monroy and three other musicians and producers in Managua who participated, on April 2, in the 15th anniversary concert of the Monroy y Surmenage band, an event in which allegedly a criticism was raised against the Ortega-Murillo regime, through one of the songs performed.

The song that apparently upset the Ortega regime is titled “In the eye of the hurricane”which includes among its stanzas phrases such as: “a loud cry in April”, “everyone shouts present” and “in the rain they come closer, they die wide open”.

According to a report by 100% Noticias, the concert also said: “April is not forgotten”, alluding to the social protests that were repressed by the Ortega-Murillo regime in April 2018.
