The Criminal Prosecutor’s Office and specialized experts carried out atomic absorption tests on the police officers who participated in the intervention of more than 600 bags of smuggled garlic which ended with a farmer shot dead in the town of Samán de Marcavelica, in Sullana. In addition, they carried out tests on his weapons.
Prosecutor David Ruiz Mauricio, from the First Corporate Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Sullana in charge of the case, sent along with his prosecutorial staff the documentation so that the police officers from the police stations that participated in the intervention can carry out the tests on them and their weapons.
In light of this, 34 police officers who were involved in the operation were identified, but yesterday, 17 of them underwent atomic absorption tests. Although the remaining 17 were unable to attend the summons, the investigation of which is being conducted by the team of prosecutor Ruiz Mauricio, who is also carrying out other proceedings in the case.
Meanwhile, Colonel PNP José Guerra, head of the Public Order and Security Division (Divopus), indicated that they will provide all facilities to the Public Ministry to carry out the investigations.

“The Prosecutor’s Office is conducting the investigation to determine who fired the shot. The expert will determine (who fired the shot) and with what weapon,” Guerra said.
He also said: “We tell the people of Samán that we are willing to ensure that the investigation is impartial and we will give the Public Prosecutor the opportunity to say which police officer or person fired the shots,” said Guerra.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased Santos Oblea Antón (49) asked for justice and to identify the person responsible for the shots that ended his life. The body is being watched over at his house in Samán, Mallares, in Marcavelica.
