In the Community Hall of the Honorable Chamber of Deputies, the Public Hearing on the Bill “That Sanctions Street Sexual Harassment” was held this Tuesday, with the purpose of guaranteeing the sexual autonomy, dignity and integrity of people .
Commissioner Sergio González and Deputy Commissioner María Elena Ferreira participated in it, representing the Police Institution.
In the argumentation of the proposal, the negative impact on the victim is clearly defined; and it is highlighted that, on many occasions, it must change its routine or avoid certain places for fear that the situation could escalate to a physical attack.
The document maintains that beyond the logic of thought, the project itself seeks to protect all victims of street sexual harassment, turning it into a punishable act, in order to create a safe environment for everyone.
