Nine months of preventive detention against police officer Carlos Egoavil Shupingahua (31), was ordered by the Third Preparatory Investigation Court of Huancayo, led by Judge José Ticona, as requested by prosecutor Lisbeth Boza of Surcubamba.
The measure was issued after evaluating the elements of the crime of qualified homicide, with the aggravating factors of ferocity and treachery, to the detriment of non-commissioned officer Luis Abimael Beltrán Díaz (35).
The defendant’s defense insisted that the incident occurred out of legitimate defense, ensuring that there was a struggle that led to the shooting. The Prosecutor’s Office rejected this version by showing that there were three shots.
