MIAMI, United States. – An agent of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) killed a citizen this Wednesday, in the city of Caibarién, during a “struggle” with a knife, unveiled on Facebook the pro-government blogger Henry Omar Pérez, member of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators and the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution (ACRC).
The information was also disseminated on the Facebook pages of the Provincial Government of Villa Clara and the CMHW stationfrom the same province.
According to Pérez, who described the citizen killed as a “criminal” and “bandit”, the policeman received four injuries with a knife, and is currently admitted to the Villa Clara Military Hospital, without danger to life.
“As part of the surveillance and patrol activity, typical of the PNR to guarantee the order and tranquility of the people throughout Cuba, two agents from the crew of car 255 of the National Revolutionary Police captured in the municipality of Caibarién the citizens Henry Negrín Bolaños and Armando Prieto, both with multiple criminal records”, explains Pérez’s note, the same one that was shared by official profiles on Facebook.
“During this procedure, in a resistance struggle, one of the bandits caused four injuries with a knife to one of the officers, who in an attempt to defend himself and disarm the aggressor wounded him with the knife itself, and for this reason he died said aggressor”. also indicates the text.
According to Pérez, the two alleged “criminals linked to this unfortunate event, present a terrible social behavior, as well as numerous manifestations of intimidation towards people, causing fear in the population.”
In the early hours of this Thursday, Pérez published a new note in which he revealed the name of the wounded PNR officer, after a visit to the Villa Clara Military Hospital. This is First Lieutenant Ariel López Águila, an officer of the Caibarién PNR.
“He tells us that he was only fulfilling the duty of preserving citizen tranquility,” Pérez justified.
In recent years, there have been numerous news stories about violence and police excesses. In the same province, in mid-2022, the police finished with a bullet shot a 17-year-old teenager during a riot in the Condado neighborhood, Santa Clara.
